Professional Trajectory
I will graduate from Indiana University Indianapolis in May 2026 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, and I have been accepted into the Indiana University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, where I will begin in Summer 2026 and graduate with my DPT in May 2029. After passing my board exam, I plan to begin working in outpatient physical therapy at a clinic such as Athletico Physical Therapy. As I gain experience, I’m interested in potentially specializing in neurological rehab, inpatient rehab, or sports physical therapy.
My path to physical therapy wasn’t linear. I started in sports management, but I quickly realized I wasn’t fulfilled by the coursework or the career outlook. At the same time, I was becoming more invested in weight training and began to take a deeper interest in how the body adapts, recovers, and improves. That shift pushed me to reflect on what I actually wanted out of a career, and I realized I was drawn to helping people recover from injury and regain function. That’s what led me to kinesiology and ultimately physical therapy.
Since then, I’ve taken intentional steps to prepare for this field. Working as a Rehab Aide gave me hands-on experience in a clinic, where I developed communication and teamwork skills while learning how to interact with patients and support clinicians. My research experience studying IMAT and resistance training strengthened my ability to think critically and communicate scientific concepts. Through classes like KINE-P 443 and KINE-P 410, I applied what I’ve learned by working directly with clients, designing programs, adapting exercises, and learning how to meet people where they are.
These experiences have helped me grow into a more confident and adaptable future clinician. I’ve learned how to communicate effectively, think critically in real time, and provide patient-centered care. As I move into DPT school, I’m focused on continuing to build these skills so I can make a meaningful impact on the patients I work with.
